Specialist Psychosocial SIL
When repeated breakdowns keep happening, the answer may need to be more than another placement
Specialist Psychosocial SIL is Abloom’s flagship service for people living with complex psychosocial disability, behaviours of concern, high support needs, provider instability or a history of placements that have not held. We look beyond the vacancy and ask what has been happening around the person, what has made previous arrangements difficult, and what needs to change in the home, team and wider care system.
This may be a good fit if
  • there has been repeated placement breakdown, provider turnover or failed service relationships
  • behaviours of concern are increasing, changing or being responded to reactively
  • the participant needs a more deliberately matched support team
  • the home environment, routines, relationships or sensory factors may be contributing to distress
  • families or professionals are carrying too much crisis coordination around the placement
  • a transition into SIL needs a provider willing to understand the complexity before making a commitment
What we look at before saying yes
We assess suitability before accepting support. That includes the participant’s history, strengths and preferences; behavioural presentation and known escalation patterns; communication and regulation needs; home and environmental factors; team compatibility; stakeholder involvement; and whether we can sustainably provide the right capability and support model.

Relevant risk considerations may include restrictive practices, absconding or elopement, self-harm risk, aggression, substance use, medication complexity, environmental triggers, compatibility with others in the home and other known safety factors. These are considered in context, with the participant remaining at the centre of the decision.

What we focus on
Deep discovery, deliberate team matching, behavioural understanding, home and routine alignment, clear stakeholder communication and support designed to adapt as the person’s needs change.
