NDIS SIL Changes from 1 July 2026: What They Mean for Participants and Families
The NDIS Landcape Continues to Evolve
The NDIS landscape continues to evolve, with important changes to Supported Independent Living (SIL) coming into effect from 1 July 2026.
These reforms are designed to strengthen participant protections, improve service quality, and ensure greater consistency across the disability support sector.
At Abloom Care Services, we welcome these changes because they reflect the standards we have proudly upheld since day one.
What Is Changing?
From 1 July 2026, all providers delivering Supported Independent Living (SIL) services will be required to be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
This means providers must meet strict quality, governance, safety, and compliance requirements, including:
- NDIS registration and ongoing compliance obligations
- Independent certification audits
- Enhanced participant safeguarding measures
- Robust worker screening and training requirements
- Greater oversight by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The goal is to ensure every participant receiving SIL services can have confidence in the quality, safety, and professionalism of their provider.
What Does This Mean for Participants?
For many participants, there will be little to no disruption.
If your current provider becomes registered and remains compliant, your supports can continue as usual. However, participants receiving SIL from providers that choose not to register may need to transition to a registered provider over time.
These changes place a stronger emphasis on participant choice, quality support delivery, and accountability across the sector.
Abloom Has Been Ready Since the Beginning
While these changes may be significant for some providers, they are not new for us.
Abloom Care Services has been a registered NDIS provider since our inception. Compliance, participant safety, quality care, and continuous improvement have always been at the heart of everything we do.
Our systems, policies, staff training, governance processes, and quality assurance measures have been built to meet and exceed NDIS requirements from the very beginning.
For our participants, families, and support networks, this means peace of mind knowing that the supports you receive are delivered by a provider that has always prioritised best practice and regulatory compliance.
Our Commitment to You
As the disability sector continues to evolve, our commitment remains unchanged:
- Delivering high-quality, person-centred supports
- Promoting independence, choice, and inclusion
- Maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance
- Supporting participants to achieve their individual goals
The upcoming SIL reforms reinforce the importance of these principles, and we are proud to continue leading by example.
